What is the Main Focus of Wilhite Wilderness Children’s Ministry?

In the world there are travel agents and travel guides. Travel agents sell people the ticket and let them go by them selves. Travel guides go with them on the trip and show them how to make the journey safely and learn in the process. It is our hearts desire to teach Christian men how to travel the journey of faith with their children in guiding them to love God with all their heart, their mind, and soul.

WWCM is designed to encourage fathers and their children (sons and daughters) to commit to spending time together in God’s wilderness to create life-long memories while growing their faith in God, their faith in each other, and to challenge them to work together in overcoming obstacles in a wilderness setting away from cell phones and I-pods. To teach fathers how to develop their relationship with their children by talking with, listening to and communicate with their kids, not only on these trips but year around through words of affirmation, physical touch, quality time, gifts, and acts of service for and with their children.

WWCM is designed to encourage churches to develop their own men’s ministry that focuses on the passing on the Christian heritage from the fathers to their children. WWCM wants to encourage each Church affiliate group to focus on the important relationships between fathers and their children in their journeys of faith before God.

All WWCM trips’ wrap up with a special time of physical blessing of the children by their dad to instill in the father the need of and use of words of affirmation in this journey of faith together on earth. To share this quality time together in God’s wilderness away from any and all distractions of the world in giving to each other their greatest gift, which is the gift of time and themselves? To work together in acts of service that brings them together as a team.

The Vision We Have For The Wilhite Wilderness Children's Ministry

"He (Elijah) will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers. " — Malachi 4:6

The Vision of Father Led Homes where authority and submission, love and loyalty, along with empowerment and trust is learned and lived as a way of life is our concern. Just as the "mantle" of Elijah's spirit and power was placed on his successors, so we have taken up the task of renewing and restoring that deep desire in our day.

Prospective Father/Son 2011 Canadian Trip Adventurer Information Sheet

Thank you for your interest in joining us on the Canadian Father Son wilderness adventure.

Due to the increased demand over the last few years the board of the Wilhite Wilderness Children’s Ministry has decided to change our first come first served policy to an application process. This was not an easy decision as we would love to see all fathers and sons have the opportunity to experience this life changing adventure.

Last year the registration period lasted only five days and we had almost twice as many sign up than we could take.

After the registration was closed, we heard of a number of others who missed the initial announcement and did not have a chance to register. The reality is that we can only take 28 father and sons and still provide a quality experience.

For this reason, we on the board are instituting an application process. This letter will explain the details, expectation and costs. If after reading these details you would like to participate, the application is attached. Please fill it out completely and carefully. We will be using the information to make the best decisions possible. We will give special consideration to those who have not been able to go in the past and those from New Life Church.

This is not an automatic guarantee as we will be considering the ages of the boys, a balance of experience verses new guys and reasons stated for wanting to go.

Our timeline is as follows.

  1. Applications will be accepted through April 15th, 2011.
  2. The board will make our decision on who is accepted during February.
  3. Those accepted will need to pay a minimum deposit of $300 per person as soon as they have been accepted.
  4. Failure to do so will forfeit your place on the trip and it will be given to another so be prepared.
  5. The balance of the cost, $600 per person, will be due no later than April 15, 2011.
  6. The trip will take place June 10 to 18, 2011.
